More to medical communications than meets the eye!

After completing my Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and working as a Pharmacist in Australia for 4 years, it was time for a change.

Wanting a more challenging career path and a change of scenery, I packed up and moved to London. New city, new friends, new career – I was ready!

While researching the many different pharmaceutical and medical roles in London, I came across ‘Med Comms’. I’d never heard of medical communications and was intrigued to find out more. Which brought me to Remedica – an innovative and diverse healthcare communications agency based in London.

I started at Remedica as an Account Executive. Being new to Med Comms (and Europe in general!), I had a lot to learn about the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare communications. At times I’ve found it challenging – wrapping my head around the industry guidelines, learning how to manage conference calls, create project timelines and budgets, to name a few. However, I’ve also found it exciting, varied and innovative, everything you could want in a career.

At Remedica I get to work on a global scale, interacting with clients and healthcare professionals from around the world.

I’ve been able to influence the training of HCPs in some of the latest practices and how this is passed on to public healthcare. I’ve helped organize medical congresses across Europe and training programs across the US and Latin America. While working for Remedica, I’ve found that a career in Med Comms is so much more than I expected.

My advice for anyone interested in a job in healthcare communications is to go for it! It’s fun, interesting and offers real career growth. A role as an Account Executive is a great place to start.
